Intro to Affirmations

Affirmations are statements that are designed to help guide the mind in a direction that is in alignment with what we believe to be helpful for whatever process we want to support.   The words you say to yourself and the images you hold in your mind can have a powerful impact on your physiology and, of course, your emotional state.  

In the process of trying to conceive, the mind and body can work together or against each other.  The strong desire to gain control over something physiological that isn't completely under our control can produce extensive conflict and angst in the mind-body relationship. We can move much more effectively toward our desires if the mind and body are in concert with each other.  These affirmations are designed to help bring your mental focus into alignment with where we would like to guide your body.

How to use affirmations - 
  • Let them in deeply:  The more you can take your time to let the words sink in, the better.  Let the words settle in, let the images become vivid.  Pause for a slow easy breath after each statement.  See if you can feel the truth of these words sinking in, deep into your body....into your heart, your soul, your bones.  Imagine that you are breathing them into your body with your breath. Or imagine you are drinking them in like a refreshing glass of water on a warm day.
  • Find a way to practice often:  Put your affirmations in a place that you can access them easily.  Copy them to a notepad on your phone, or put them in your wallet. Better yet, make an audio recording and play it back for yourself during idle times, while doing chores or while falling asleep at night.  If you make a recording, take your time reading the statements, and pause for at least the length of one slow breath between each one.  
  • Customize:  Delete those that don't resonate with you, add ones that do.  Make it your own.
